Happy Holidays!

Today was our last day before break! We had our Holiday parties this afternoon and the students behaved beautifully!

We took a math test this morning.

Mrs. D's class shared their favorite poems with their class.

We worked on some Holiday activities and had a very nice day!

We hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year and we will see you in 2006!

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We will have a test tomorrow!

Spelling:No Spelling

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we finished up Poetry and our books are due tomorrow! We also watched The Best Christmas pageant Ever video and compared it with the book.


** We practiced for the music program tonight this afternoon. The students need to report to their classrooms by 6:50 tonight! Thanks for your help!

Happy Monday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We discussed converting units of length. Problem set 74 was assigned!

Spelling: Spelling will not be our regular list this week due to the holiday! The students will be chosing Holiday words!

Reading: We worked on a Context clues sheet and continued Poetry!

Social Studies: Explorer's reports were due today!

We went to the gymnasium this afternoon to watch to choir, Kindergarten, First and Second grades perform.

Happy Friday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed adding and subtracting decimals. Problem set 73 was assigned and is due on Monday.

Spelling: Today we took a test over unit 16.

Social Studies: explorers reports are due on Monday!

English/ Writing: We did a story starter about Winter.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we read a fractured fairy tale and did a writing activity with it. We also have our poetry projects that are due on Wednesday. * We also did a following directions activity with our first grade buddies and we went to the library.

In Mr. H's class we read pages 210-222 in our textbook the story about Mae Jemison.

Have a great evening and remember that school gets our for Winter Break at the end of the day on Wednesday.

Happy Thursday!

Here is what we did today:

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we continued poetry and we learned about Hink - Pinks and oral poetry.
*Poetry projects are due next Wednesday.
In Mr. H's class we read The Fear Place from our textbook pages 185- 200.

Spelling: In Mr. H's class we worked on a spelling activity. Mrs. D's class will do this tomorrow.

Math: Today we took our Computation test for this six weeks.

Science: We finished our Computation test.

English/Writing: We worked on an activity for our pen pals.

Social Studies: We did Christmas trivia.

Happy Wednesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed finding area of rectangles and squares. Problem set 72 was assigned and is due on Wednesday. Tomorrow we will be taking our computation test over skills that the students must know by the end of 5th grade.

Science: We took a open book test over the chapter on plants.

Spelling: The workbook pages are due tomorrow.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we continued to discuss poetry. Today we talked about diamante and bio - pyramid poems. The finished poetry books will be due next Wednesday.

In Mr. H's class we read from the textbook the story LaBamba Pages 163-176.

Social Studies: We read and discussed pages 156-159 discussing English challenging Spain today.

English/Writing: We chose between one of two story starters.

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we looked at fractions, decimals and percents. We looked at the most common fractions. Problem set 71 was assigned and is due on Wednesday.

Science: Tomorrow we will have a test over chapter 4. Page 118-119 was assigned problems 1-11 all 13, 15, and 16-18 all are due on Wednesday.

Reading: In Mrs. D's room we worked on Poetry and we had a reading comprehension page.

In Mr. H's room we read Figure Skating pages 136 to 151 from our t ext books.

Spelling: Workbook pages 98-101 are due on Thursday and we took a pre test.

Social Studies: We had Christmas trivia!

English/ Writing: We did a review over what we have learned so far pages 124-125.

Happy Monday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We did an investigation today dealing with different types of patterns. We had a short assignment from Investigation 7. Problems assigned were 3,4,6,8,9,13,15,16,17,19, 20,21,22.

Science: We discussed plant growth today and reasons why plants grow the way that they do. Lesson 4 was read and a work sheet reviewing what we discussed.

Social Studies: Explorers reports are due next Monday! One week to complete this report!

Spelling: We are working on unit 16 this week. Here are the calmer, slimmest, removed, denying, sunnier, wiser, grayest, trimming, denied, interesting, sunniest, trimmed, wisest, removing, grayer, calmest, supplied, slimmer, interested, supplying. We wrote our words three times each today.

English/ Writing: We worked on a project for our pen pals today.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we continued to work with our poetry. Today we talked about rhyming couplets, acrostic poems and concrete poems. Our poetry books will be completed before Christmas break!

In Mr. H's class we concluded Stone Fox by comparing the movie to the book.

Can goods need to be brought in for their admittance to the Christmas movie. Also we need donations to our soldiers that we are adopting this Christmas! The deadline for this is Monday! Thanks!

Happy Friday!

We had a two hour delay this morning! So, things started off differently this morning!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we took a math test over items that were previously taught.

Social Studies: The students explorers reports were checked to see their progress.

Spelling: We took a test over unit 15.

Reading: In Mr. H's class we finished Stone Fox.

In Mrs. D's class we visited our first grade buddies. We also worked on a reading comprehension and vocabulary sheet on the Colosseum Games.

English/Writing: We continued to work on our Pen Pal letters.

Happy Thursday!

Here is what we did for yesterday and today:

Math: Today we discussed writing equivalent decimals and writing money correctly. Problem set 69 was assigned on Wednesday and problem set 70 was assigned today. Also we will have a test on Friday!

Social Studies: We continued to discuss about Early Colonies, specifically Roanoke. They also had a worksheet dealing with this topic as well.
*Friday is a check point for the Explorers report. Bring what you have done today!

Spelling: Today we collected workbook pages 92-95 and a test will be given on Friday.

English/Writing: Yesterday we worked on Pen Pal letters. Today we continued to work on Pen Pal letters and we did a story starter: The reindeer are missing.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we continued to work with poetry. Today we learned what a Limerick and a License Plate Poem were. We will have some fun poetry books when we are finished.

In Mr. H's class we read from Stone Fox chapters 3-7 for the past two days.

Science: We finished the Madame Curie video and we did a reading activity dealing with the Indiana Bat.

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed writing fractions as decimals. We also worked on reading decimal numbers.

Science: We watched a video over Madame Curie. Both classes also had Elves workshop today!

Reading:In Mrs. D's class we continued to work on Poetry.

In Mr. H's class we read from Stone Fox.

Mrs. D had a child of her own get sick so we will write the rest of the information tomorrow!

Happy Monday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we practiced measuring with a centimeter ruler and writing our answers in centimeters and millimeters. Problem set 66 was assigned and is due on Tuesday.

Science: Today we discussed plants, flowers, seeds and reproduction of plants. A worksheet was assigned reviewing the items that we discussed in class.

English/Writing: We had a review assignment dealing with pronouns. We had shopping for Christmas writing assignment also.

Social Studies: We had a US map find. The students worked on finding different states on a map.

Spelling: Lesson 15 words are prerecorded, reappear, postscript, cooperate, prehistoric, posttest, coauthors, precaution, postwar, rejoin, coexist, prefix, coworker, reform, prepaid, refresh, postdate, reenter, reclaim. We wrote our words 3 times each today. We will have a pretest on Tuesday.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we began a unit on Poetry! We read poems and listen to poems. We will be completing a poetry book by Christmas break!

In Mr. H's class we began a new book today Stone Fox.

Happy Friday!
Today was an early release day so it was short and busy!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we took a test over previously taught skills.

Spelling: We took a test over unit 14 and wrote sentences for each word.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we continued to finish reading our Number the Stars books. The students have until the end of the day Monday to complete the assignments and take the AR for this book.

In Mr. H's class we finished reading from The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

With Art, library, PE and lunch thrown in we had a very busy day!

Happy December 1st!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed the metric system and writing meters, decimeters, centimeters and millimeters as decimals. Problem set 65 is due on Friday. We will have a test over skills previously learned on Friday as well.

Reading. In Mrs. D's class we finished Number the Stars and the students were given some activities to complete for Monday.

In Mr. H's class we read from The Best Christmas Pageant Ever chapter 5.

Social Studies: We read pages 136-140 in our social studies book dealing with the Northwest Passage.

Science: We watched a video on Thomas Edison and completed two worksheets on what was discussed in the video.

English/ Writing: We completed a story starter titled a Winter Story.

Spelling: We will have a test on Friday. Workbook pages will be collected tomorrow due to time today!

Tomorrow is an early dismissal day. Students can be picked up at 12:00. Look for a newsletter that was sent home today with information about Christmas items.
