Happy Friday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed exponents. We had a fun worksheet to work on dealing with this topic.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we read from our choice books, we went to the library, we met with our first grade buddies and we continued to work on our PhD report.

In Mr. H's class we read a story called New Providence.

Social Studies: LEAD book page 42.

Spelling: We took our final test over unit 32.

English/ Writing: We did a writing activity in class called Pass It On!

Happy Thursday!

Today when I was talking to my children I realized that we only have 20 days left of school. Wow has the time flown by!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we continued to work on dividing decimal numbers by whole numbers . Problem set 118 was assigned and is due on Friday!

Science: We began looking at climate today.

Social Studies: We had a discussion about next year and the new school. We also had a visit from the new principal, assistant principal and counselor for Riverside Intermediate. We had lots of questions and they had answers! We also did some writing when they left about our ideas for this new school.
We also continued to discuss the Revolutionary War!

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we worked on our choice book and we also continued to work on our PhD projects!
In Mr. H's class we read from a story from an old textbook called The Riddle of Pincroft Farm.

Spelling: Workbook pages were handed in today and we will have our final test on Friday.

English/Writing: We wrote to our Pen Pals today.

Happy Wednesday!

Here is what we did today!

Mr. H was ill today so this is hopefully what happened today!

Math: Today in math we worked on dividing fractions with decimals in the dividend. Problem set 117 was assigned and is due on Thursday.

Science: Today we started Chapter 7 dealing with Earth Science. We have covered life science and physical science this year so far. We had vocabulary that we discussed and a worksheet dealing with these words.

Social Studies: We read about the American Revolution and answered two questions about the reading.

English/Writing: We had a paragraph correction sheet and an in class writing assignment.

Spelling: Workbook pages are due on Thursday and we had an activity to do today with our words as well.

We had our Mock Trial today. This is the end of our LEAD unit. We viewed the Mock Trial on a video screen in the cafeteria. Ask your child about their thoughts on this.

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We worked some more on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. The students were assigned page 660, 2-72 evens due on Wednesday.

Science: We took a test over chapter 15.

Social Studies: We had more LEAD today dealing with due process.

Spelling: We had our pretest for unit 32 and workbook pages will be due on Thursday.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we had meetings on our PhD reports. We also chose one of four books to work on in class. Ask your child which book he/she chose!

In Mr. H's class we finished the book The Art of Keeping Cool and we answered some comprehension questions dealing with the book.

Happy Monday!

FOG DELAY this morning! So the day was short and quick!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we worked on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. Problem set 116 was assigned and is due on Tuesday.

Science: We reviewed for our chapter 15 test that we will have on Tuesday.

Social Studies: We had LEAD and we discussed guilt and innocence.

Spelling: Today we wrote our unit 32 words 3 times each. The words this week are: childish, joyous, energetic, bluish, pleasant, basic, humorous, stylish, cubic, dramatic, marvelous, famous, adventurous, vacant, dangerous, radiant, vigorous, foolish, mysterious, selfish. We will have a pretest tomorrow!

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we continued to work on our PhD project.
In Mr. H's class we read chapter 13 in The Art of Keeping Cool.

English/ Writing: We had a writing activity in class.

Math: Today we took a test over items previously learned.

Spelling: We took a test over lesson 31 today.

Social Studies: We began learning about the Revolutionary War today.

English/ Writing: We had a writing activity in class.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we had a great discussion in class today. Ask your child about what we talked about today. We also finished our book Hitler's Daughter. We also went to the library and we are continuing to work on our PhD project.

In Mr. H's class we finished chapter 12 today in The Art of Keeping Cool.

Happy Thursday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed finding area of irregular shapes. We had problem set 115 as an assignment. We will take a test on Friday!

Science: Today we took an "Intelligence Test". This was a fun activity and I am sure the students will ask you some of the questions tonight.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we completed our last writing prompt for the year as well as listened to the book Hitler's Daughter.

In Mr. H's class we read chapter 12 in The Art of Keeping Cool.

Social Studies: We discussed lesson 3 from chapter 8 dealing with the beginnings of the Revolutionary War.

English/Writing: We completed our writing prompt and a creative writing worksheet!

Spelling: We turned in our books today and we will have a test on Friday.

Happy Wednesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we worked on changing mixed numbers to improper fractions. We did some problems from the back of the book and we had a worksheet dealing with multiples and multiplication.

Science: Today we looked at a National Geographic for Kids magazine and we looked at articles on roller coasters, rocks, and bugs! The students completed some questions with a partner.

Social Studies: We discussed lesson 2 in chapter 8 dealing with Britain taking over the New Land.

Spelling: Workbook pages are due tomorrow and our final test will be on Friday.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we worked on our PhD reports, went to the computer lab and we listened to our book Hitler's Daughter.

In Mr. H's room we read chapter 11 in The Art of Keeping Cool.

English/ Writing: We had a paragraph correction sheet and we did a creative writing activity in class.

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we discussed finding Least Common Multiples. We also discussed how this is just like what we have been doing finding common denominators. Problem set 112 was assigned and is due on Wednesday.

Science: Today we discussed complex circuits. This was lesson 3 of chapter 15. We had a review sheet that is due on Wednesday.

Social Studies: We discussed more from our LEAD books.

English/Writing: We had an in class writing activity!

Spelling: Today we took our pretest and our workbook pages were assigned and are due on Thursday.

Reading: In Mrs. D's room we had our LEAD presentation during our reading time but we did squeeze in some time to listen to Hitler's Daughter.

In Mr. H's room we read chapter 11 in The Art of Keeping Cool.

Happy Monday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We made it back to the book today. We discussed multiplying decimals by powers of 10. The student's learned the "Decimal Slide" a Mrs. D creation! Ask your child to show you what they have learned. Problem set 111 was assigned and is due on Tuesday.

Science: Today we discussed lesson 2 of chapter 15 dealing with circuits. The students looked at flashlights and we discussed simple circuits. The students were given a review sheet to do for tomorrow.

Social Studies: We discussed LEAD today. We have a visitor tomorrow.

English/ Writing: We had a writing prompt to do in class.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we began reading a new story called Hitler's daughter. We also had a visitor today! Ask your child who we got to meet!

In Mr. H's class we read chapters 9 and 10 in The Art of Keeping Cool.

Spelling: Unit 31 is our lesson this week. We wrote our words five times each. This weeks words are: diamond, handsome, truly, camera, language, beautiful, government, umbrella, thorough, judgment, separate, suppose, chocolate, route, cousin, sincerely, address, poison, although, although, skiing. We will have our pretest tomorrow and our final test on Friday.

Happy Thursday!

Today was a short day! We had our six weeks store today so it was a busy, short day!

Here is what we did today:

In Mrs. D's room we worked on our reading and we did some spring/Easter math, and English activities!

In Mr. H's room we read chapter 8 in the Art of Keeping Cool. We also worked on the Easter/Spring Activities.

REPORT CARDS were sent home today!

Happy Wednesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We continued to review fractions ending today with dividing fractions. The students have improved with their reducing fractions and this review time has hopefully helped! There were two worksheets as assignments today.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we continued work on our PhD project and our Dear America books. The Dear America Tic Tac Toes are due on Monday.

In Mr. H's class we read chapter 8 in the Art of Keeping Cool.

Spelling: The workbook pages for unit 30 are due tomorrow as well as the final test. We also did an activity sheet in class.

English/Writing: We had a writing activity in class.

Science: Today we discussed electricity and conductors and insulators. This was lesson 1 in chapter 15. A worksheet reviewing today's topic was assigned.

Social Studies: We watched a video over the three branches of government.

Happy Tuesday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we continued with fractions. Individual help was given to students who are having difficulty with adding fractions! No new homework.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we worked on our PhD projects in class and in the computer lab! Be sure to ask your child what his or her topic on!

In Mr. H's room we read chapter 6 in The Art of Keeping Cool.

English/Writing: We completed a writing sample in class.

Spelling: We took a pretest and the workbook pages will be due on Thursday.

Social Studies: LEAD! We had the prosecuting attorney in today to speak with the class.

Between LEAD and a fire drill and a tornado drill today it was sure a busy day!

Happy Monday!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We reviewed adding fractions with different denominators. We also worked on reducing improper fractions. The students worked on two worksheets today.

Science: We worked on a vocabulary activity dealing with our words from chapter 15. We also discussed cause and effect and had an assignment dealing with this topic.

Social Studies: We worked in our LEAD books today.

Spelling: We wrote our unit 30 words three times each. We will take a pretest tomorrow. Our words this week are: creditor, director, passenger, scientist, skis, beliefs, envelopes, heroes, midday, bicycle semicircle, margin, average, apology, ledger, relative, specialty, argument, arrangement.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we worked on our Dear America books and we also worked on our PhD projects making sure that our first letters on the topic are turned in.

In Mr. H's class we read from The Art of Keeping Cool chapter 4.

English/ Writing: We did a writing prompt in class.

Sorry about no listing yesterday, Mrs. D was gone!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we worked on multiplying fractions. We continue to work on reducing our fractions. A worksheet was assigned as homework.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we had library today and we also worked on our Dear America books. Mrs. D introduced our PhD project that we will be working on for the next four weeks. Ask your child to let you know what topic they are going to be studying.

In Mr. H's class we read chapters 3 and 4 in The Art of Keeping Cool. Yesterday we had a comprehension worksheet as well.

English/writing: We had a writing prompt to do in class.

Social Studies: We have been dealing with LEAD for the past two days.

Spelling: We took our final test on unit 29.

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks to all of the Dad's and special guests who came in for doughnuts this morning!

Here is what we did today:

Math: We continued our fraction review. Today we reviewed multiplying fractions and learned a short cut. We also continued to work on changing improper fractions to mixed numbers. We are improving in this area but are still forgetting to reduce all of our fractions. The students had two worksheets to do in class and/or finish at home.

Science: We began our chapter on electricity today!

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we worked on our Dear America books and we are getting closer to finishing the children of the Lamp story.

In Mr. H's class we worked on The Art of Keeping Cool chapter 2.

Social Studies: We worked on LEAD and we finished lesson 2 and began lesson 3.

Spelling: Workbook pages are due tomorrow and the final test is on Friday.

English/Writing: We completed a writing prompt that was on the board in class.

Science: We had our LEAD presentation during this time.

Social Studies: We read lesson two in chapter 8 about the French and Indian war.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we listened to our Children of the Lamp story and had time in the computer lab.

In Mr. H's class we read from the Art of Keeping Cool chapters 1 and 2.

Spelling: We had our pretest and our workbook pages are due on Thursday.

Happy April!

Here is what we did today:

Math: Today we continued our work with fractions. We continued to work on reducing fractions as well as changing improper fractions to mixed numbers and the reverse. Students worked on two worksheets in class and if they completed them they were checked and handed back for corrections.

Science: Today we began our next chapter dealing with electricity. We watched a short Bill Nye video dealing the electric current..

Spelling: Unit 29 will be studied this week. Today we wrote our words 5 times each. Tomorrow we will have a pretest. This weeks words are: vanity, humanity, sickness, amusement, detective, loyalty, majority, gentleness, argument, humidity, ability, blindness, activity, relative, employment, specialty, creativity, arrangement, swiftness, tardiness.

Reading: In Mrs. D's class we listened to the Children of the Lamp story and we are getting more interested in it every day. We also began a new story. The students chose one of four Dear America books to read this week. Today they were to read the first 20 pages.

In Mr. H's class we started a new book called The Art of Keeping Cool.

Social Studies: We lesson 1 in Chapter 8 discussing the French and Indian War.

English/Writing: We had a writing prompt to do in class.
